Maps or place search is unavailable

  1. Check that the device has an internet connection.
  2. Close and reopen Atlas.
  3. Try the search again with a city and country name.
  4. If the problem continues, include the search text and an approximate time in your support message.

Place names and coordinates may come from Google Maps, Google Places, Apple services, imported files, or information you entered. Verify important locations before relying on them.

Location or Photos permission

Atlas asks for location only to center the map when you request it. Photo access is used only when you start a Photos import, so Atlas can read the location and date metadata of permitted photos.

To change access, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services or Photos, then select Atlas. Atlas does not track location in the background and does not import the photo images themselves.

Back up, export, or remove data

  • Use Atlas Settings to create a JSON backup or CSV export.
  • An iCloud backup is created only when you request it and is saved in your iCloud Drive.
  • Use the data-management controls in Atlas Settings to remove local Atlas data.
  • Delete exported files and iCloud backups separately from the locations where you saved them.

Backups and exports may contain personal destinations, coordinates, dates, and notes. Store and share them carefully.

What to include in a support request

  • Device model and iOS, iPadOS, or macOS version
  • Atlas version and build number
  • What you expected and what happened
  • Steps we can use to reproduce the problem

Do not send Apple ID passwords, API keys, complete private backups, or other credentials.
